We recently wrapped up the online social media campaign – #CountDownToSurgery for the awesome folks over at Operation Smile South Africa for their surgical missions which took in Antsirabe, Madagascar and Mbombela, South Africa. Bigger Than Me have been building Operation Smile South Africa’s digital presence working with them on their content and social media strategy.
As Operation Smile South Africa have just joined the Bigger Than Me stable we were very excited to get the ball rolling and help bring to life the on the ground account of what’s involved and what takes place at these missions. We wanted to give the world the full picture and really show the amazing work being carried out by the organisation around Africa and the world.
During both missions Operation Smile performed 82 surgical procedures to correct cleft lip and palate deformatilties which is a significant achievement in a 14 day period.
This entire campaign was driven on the incredible hearts of the volunteers, medical and non-medical plus the partner companies that stood up and got involved to ensure that these free operations can take place.
Cause Marketing is a firm cog in the wheel that makes these campaigns turn and social media played a very important role in telling the stories that took place making sure that these stories are told from an authentic point of view to give respect to the incredible sacrifice so many people make to bring these missions together, logistically its a huge task and we have been very fortunate to have been part of such a special organisation.
We are really looking forward to continuing working with Operation Smile South Africa and telling their story to the rest of the world.
