What about Purpose?
What if we all had purpose?
We hear so much about purpose these days. We are told to find our purpose, practice self-love and follow our dreams so that we can reach our potential.
What does that actually mean though?
Purpose is defined as “the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.”
How do we find our reason for existing? What have we come here to do?
I always wondered what my purpose was. What is my great work? What have I come here to do?
Eight years ago I came up with an idea, a concept to help change the way the world works.
So I sold everything I had and created Bigger Than Me.
Bigger Than Me is a creative social change agency. My passion and my company.
We help brands find their purpose, create social change and tell their stories better. This is my one of my reasons for existing. My heart and soul.
Something that was Bigger Than myself.
My Bigger Than Me.
Let’s flip the script!
You see I wanted to change how brands and large companies talk to their consumers.
After working in digital marketing for many years, I decided that I wanted to work with companies that are doing good in the world and were trying to find their purpose and make the world a better place.
I wanted to help change the reason why they create and sell products with only a profitable bottom line in mind.
Short term thinking with a finite future.
I wanted to provide an opportunity for brands and their consumers to work together for a lasting and sustainable footprint in our most vulnerable communities.
I wanted to create a company where everything we do comes from a place of purpose… to make a difference, to do the right thing.
To ignite the dynamic potential in us as I believe we all have so much potential.
I wanted to help people before profit.
If we get that right the profits will come.
The stats back up my belief
The Kantar Purpose Study in 2020 showed that over a 12 year period, those brands with a purpose-led business strategy had a brand growth of 175% versus 70% for brands that didn’t.
An Edelman Earned Brand study showed that 50% of consumers across U.S., China, India, Mexico, U.K., The Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, Japan and more are now belief-driven buyers with this figure rising to 60% (Millennials), 53% (Gen-Z).
The shift is happening, and the impact is global!
You see. Bigger Than Me is all about just that, being Bigger Than Yourself.
Bigger Than Ourselves.
Knowing ourselves better.
Knowing our purpose.
Making more conscious decisions as consumers every day that will ensure our children have a future.
And it’s through these decisions that we create opportunities and get access to better education and healthcare. Eat the right foods. Protect our oceans, protect our land and save our water resources.
To love and respect each other and ourselves.
That’s purpose.
It’s really that simple.
If you like what I’m saying, and you’ve been asking yourself questions like,
“What do I stand for?”
“What’s my purpose?”
“What’s my companies’ purpose?”
“What do we stand for?”
Then connect with us.
Let’s change how things are done.
Let’s grow, let’s learn and lets improve.
So this is me and that’s my purpose.
What’s yours?
I’m Greg and I am Bigger Than Me!
